Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G - Set Up Face Recognition

Here's how to set up a facial recognition scan to access your Galaxy S21 FE 5G.
  • Facial recognition is utilized to unlock the device.
  • For optimal performance, ensure you are indoors or away from direct sunlight.
  • If synced to a corporate exchange account, the availability of this option is dependent upon the policies of your IT admin.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access the apps screen.
    These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Security and privacy
    .
  3. Tap
    Biometrics
    .
  4. Tap
    Face Recognition
    .
    If presented, enter the current PIN, password or pattern.
  5. Perform one of the following:
    • For first time setup:
      1. From the Face recognition screen, review the info about Face recognition then tap
        Continue
        .
      2. If presented, select a lock screen option (e.g., pattern, PIN or password) then follow the steps to complete the process.
        If necessary, refer to Enable / Disable / Modify Screen Lock for assistance.
      3. While holding the phone 8-20 inches away, position your face within the circle displayed on-screen.
      4. To continue, review the info about Backing up your Pattern, tap
        Agree
         then follow the on-screen directions to sign in to your Samsung account.
        To decline, tap
        Cancel
        .
      5. From the 'Face recognition' menu, tap any of the following switch(es) to turn on Switch on or off Switch off.
        • Face unlock
          : When on, device unlocks with a recognized face.
        • Stay on Lock screen until swipe
          : Once unlocked, remain on the lock screen until you swipe.
        • Require open eyes
          : Only recognize your face when eyes are open.
        • Brighten screen
          : Temporarily increases screen brightness to improve facial recognition in the dark.
      To continue, review the info about Backing up your Pattern, tap
      Agree
       then follow the on-screen directions to sign in to your Samsung account
    • To remove face data:
      1. From the Face recognition menu, tap
        Remove face data
        .
      2. To confirm, review the disclaimer then tap
        Remove
        .
