Samsung Galaxy Note8 - Set Up SOS Messages

Here's how to set up SOS messages for use in an emergency situation.
  • In any emergency situation, you can send a message to an emergency contact by quickly pressing the power key 3 times.
  • A notice of your approximate location is sent to the mobile phone of a chosen contact.
  • Up to 4 emergency contacts can be registered on the device.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Advanced features
    Send SOS messages
    .
  3. Tap the
    OFF switch Switch off icon
    (upper-right) to turn ON Switch on icon.
  4. Tap
    OK
    .
  5. To continue, review the Terms and conditions then select (check) the agreement option and tap
    Agree
    .
  6. From the 'Create emergency contact' message, tap
    Add
    .
    An emergency contact must be created for SOS messages to turn on.
  7. From the 'Add recipient' message, perform one of the following:
    To change the contact later, tap
    Send messages
    then tap 'Add' or 'Delete'.
    • To create a new emergency contact:
      1. Tap
        Create contact
        .
      2. Enter a name and 10-digit number.
      3. Tap
        Save
        .
    • To use an existing contact for the emergency contact:
      1. Tap
        Select from contacts
        .
      2. Tap the desired contact(s) to select (check).
      3. Tap
        Done
        .
  8. Tap the
    Back icon Back icon
    (upper-left) to return to the 'Send SOS messages' screen.
  9. Tap
    Attach pictures
    to turn on or off.
    Message will include a snapshot taken by the front and rear camera.
  10. Tap
    Attach audio recording
    to turn on or off.
    Message includes a 5-second audio recording.
