Samsung Galaxy Note8 - Home Screen Settings

Here's how to change the default Home screen settings on your Galaxy Note8.

Home screen layout

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout only.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Display
    Home screen
    .
    If Settings isn't available, swipe up or down, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap
    Home screen settings
    .
  3. Tap
    Home screen layout
    .
  4. Select one of the following:
    • Home and Apps screens
      All apps display on an Apps screen, which is separate from the Home screen.
      This is the default setting.
    • Home screen only
      All apps display on the Home screen.
  5. Tap
    Apply
    .

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout only.
  2. Navigate:

    If Settings isn't available, swipe up or down, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap

  3. Tap
    Home screen grid

  4. Select the desired option (e.g., 4x5, 4x6, 5x5, 5x6) located at the bottom.
    When selected, a preview of the change displays above.
  5. Tap
    Apply
     (lower-right).

Apps screen grid

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout only.
  2. Navigate:

    If Settings isn't available, swipe up or down, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap

  3. Tap
    Apps screen grid

    This option is only available in the Home and Apps screens layout.
  4. Select the desired option (e.g., 4x6, 5x6) located at the bottom.
    When selected, a preview of the change displays above.
  5. Tap
    Apply
     (lower-right).

  4. Tap the
    Apps button switch
     to turn on Switch on icon or off Switch off icon.

Hide apps

Selected Apps don't appear on the Home/Apps screen.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout only.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Display
    Home screen
    .
    If Settings isn't available, swipe up or down, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap
    Home screen settings
    .
  3. Tap
    Hide apps
    .
  4. Select the desired app(s).
    Selected when a check mark is present.
  5. Tap
    Apply
     (lower-right).
