Samsung Galaxy Note9 - Home Screen Settings

Here's how to change the default Home screen settings on your Galaxy Note9.

Home screen layout

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Display
    Home screen
    .
    If Settings isn't available, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap
    Home screen settings
    .
  3. Tap
    Home screen layout
    .
  4. Select one of the following:
    • Home and Apps screens
      All apps display on an Apps screen, which is separate from the Home screen.
      This is the default setting.
    • Home screen only
      All apps display on the Home screen.
  5. Tap
    Apply
    .

Home screen grid

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:

    Display
    Home screen
    .
    If Settings isn't available, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap
    Home screen settings

  3. Tap
    Home screen grid
    .
  4. Select the desired option (e.g., 4x5, 4x6, 5x5, 5x6) located at the bottom.
    When selected, a preview of the change displays above.
  5. Tap
    Save
     (lower-right).

Apps screen grid

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:

    If Settings isn't available, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap

  3. Tap
    Apps screen grid

    This option is only available in the Home and Apps screens layout.
  4. Select the desired option (e.g., 4x6, 5x6) located at the bottom.
    When selected, a preview of the change displays above.
  5. Tap
    Save
     (lower-right).

Apps button

    These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:

    Home screen

    If Settings isn't available, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap
    Home screen settings

  3. Tap
    Apps button
    .
    This option is only available in the Home and Apps screens layout.
  4. Tap the
    Apps button switch
    to turn on Switch on or off Switch off.
    The apps button is disabled by default.
    When on, the Apps button displays in the lower-right of the Home screen.
    When off, the Apps button is removed from the Home screen.

Hide apps

Selected apps don't appear on the Home/Apps screen.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Display
    Home screen
    .
    If Settings isn't available, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap
    Home screen settings
    .
  3. Tap
    Hide apps
    .
  4. Select the desired app(s).
    Selected when a checkmark is present.
  5. Tap
    Done
