Call Filter - Report a Number

Here's how to report as spam or telemarketer number using the Call Filter app.
Call Filter (formerly Caller Name ID) provides additional caller detail (e.g., city, state, name, etc.) and enables you to manage and block spam calls.
There are several ways to report a number as spam, etc. Click the appropriate option then follow the instructions:

Report a Number from the Recent Activity Screen (Manual Entry)

  1. From a Home screen, navigate:
    Apps
    Call Filter Call Filter icon

  2. From the 'Recent activity' screen, tap
    Report
     (upper-right).
  3. Type the phone number into the Number field.
  4. Select whether you're reporting the number as 'Spam' or 'Not spam'.
  5. If Spam, select a category (e.g., Scammer, Telemarketer, etc.) from the dropdown menu.
  6. If desired, use the 'Leave a comment' field to enter any details which may be helpful to others.
    Leaving a comment is optional.
    If reporting the number as spam, you can check the 'Block number' box to block the number (Call Filter Plus subscribers only).
  7. Tap
    Report number
    .

Report a Number from the Call Log on the Recent Activity Screen

  1. From a Home screen, navigate:

    Call Filter Call Filter icon

  2. From the 'Recent activity' screen, tap the number you want to report.
  3. Tap
    Report
    .
  4. Select whether you're reporting the number as 'Spam' or 'Not spam'.
  5. If Spam, select a category (e.g., Scammer, Telemarketer, etc.) from the dropdown menu.
  6. If desired, use the 'Leave a comment' field to enter any details which may be helpful to others.
    Leaving a comment is optional.
    If reporting the number as spam, you can check the 'Block number' box to block the number (Call Filter Plus subscribers only).
  7. Tap
    Report number

Report a Number from Your Phone's Call Log (Android)

  1. Open your phone's call log.
  2. Copy the phone number you want to report.
    The process for copying the number to the clipboard may vary by device. Generally this can be done by touching and holding the number from the call detail screen.
  3. From a Home screen, navigate:
    Apps
    Call Filter Call Filter icon

  4. A pop-up displays showing 'Report copied number?' and the number from the clipboard. You have the option to report the number or look up number info (Call Filter Plus subscribers only).
  5. Select whether you're reporting the number as 'Spam' or 'Not spam'.
  6. If Spam, select a category (e.g., Scammer, Telemarketer, etc.) from the dropdown menu.
  7. If desired, use the 'Leave a comment' field to enter any details which may be helpful to others.
    Leaving a comment is optional.
    If reporting the number as spam, you can check the 'Block number' box to block the number (Call Filter Plus subscribers only).

Report a Number from Your Phone's Call Log (iPhone)

  1. Enable the SMS/Call Reporting extension on your Apple® iPhone®.
  2. From a Home screen, tap
    Phone
     Phone icon.
    If an app isn't available on your Home screen, swipe left to access the App Library.
  3. Swipe left on the number you want to report.
  4. Tap
    Report
    .
  5. Select 'Spam' or 'Not spam'.
  6. Select a category (e.g., Scammer, Telemarketer, etc.) from the dropdown menu.
  7. If desired, use the 'Leave a comment' field to enter any details which may be helpful to others.
    Leaving a comment is optional.
  8. Tap
    Report number

Report a Number from a Notification

  1. If you receive a status bar notification advising that a spam call was detected or blocked, tap the notification.
  2. A pop-up displays showing 'Report this number?' and the number from the notification.
  3. Select a category (e.g., Scammer, Telemarketer, etc.) from the dropdown menu.
  4. If desired, use the 'Leave a comment' field to enter any details which may be helpful to others.
    Leaving a comment is optional.
  5. Tap
    Report
     (lower-right).
