Apple iPhone - Turn Face ID On / Off

Here's how to turn Face ID on or off for the features available on your iPhone.

Face ID lets you secure your Apple® iPhone®, authenticate purchases, sign in to apps, and more with just a glance.

The steps below apply to the iPhone X models and later.

From a Home screen, tap

Settings

If an app isn't available on your Home screen, swipe left to access the App Library.

Tap

Face ID & Passcode

then enter your passcode.

For the following, tap the switch(es) to turn on Switch On

or off

Available options will vary based on device and iOS version.

iPhone Unlock (use facial recognition to unlock the phone)

iTunes & App Store (use facial recognition to authorize App, iBook, etc. purchases)

Wallet & Apple Pay (use facial recognition to authorize purchases)

If unavailable, tap Apple Pay.
