Samsung Galaxy Note8 - Set Up Fingerprint Recognition

Here's how to set up fingerprint scan recognition to unlock your Galaxy Note8.
  • A fingerprint is utilized to unlock the device.
  • For the fingerprint scanner to operate, hands must be clean and free of moisture, dirt, oil, lotion, dyes, etc.
  • Up to 4 fingerprints can be registered on the device.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Biometrics and security
    .
  3. Tap
    Fingerprints
    .
    If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  4. If presented, tap
    Continue
     and select a lock screen option (e.g., Pattern, PIN, Password) then follow the steps to complete the process.
    If necessary, refer to Set Up Screen Lock for assistance.
  5. Place your finger on the fingerprint sensor (back of the device) until it vibrates then lift.
    View the on-screen tutorial for assistance.
    Repeat this step as necessary until the process is complete.
    For greater accuracy, finger placement should vary slightly each time.
  6. Tap
    Done
     (lower-right).
