Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ - Set Up Fingerprint Recognition

Here's how to set up fingerprint lock for your Galaxy S8 / S8+.
  • A fingerprint is utilized to unlock the device. For the fingerprint scanner to operate, hands must be clean and free of moisture, dirt, oil, lotion, dyes, etc.
  • Up to 4 fingerprints can be registered on the device.
  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
    These instructions apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Biometrics and security Biometrics and security icon
    .
  3. Tap
    Fingerprints
     then tap
    Continue
    .
    If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
    If necessary, refer to Set Up Screen Lock for assistance.
  4. From the Scan your fingerprint screen, follow on-screen instructions to register fingerprint (as shown in the on-screen tutorial).
    Place finger on the fingerprint sensor and then lift off.
    Percentage indicates completion progress.
  5. From the Fingerprint added screen tap
    Done
