Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 edge - Google™ Backup and Restore

Here's how to ensure your Gmail, contacts, apps, etc. are backed up on your Galaxy S7 / S7 edge.
Backups can't be restored from a higher Android™ version onto a device with a lower Android version.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    >
    Accounts
     >
    Backup and restore
    .
  3. From the Google account section, tap the
    Back up my data switch
     to turn on Switch on or off Switch off.
    If turned off, existing backups are deleted from Google's servers.
  4. When turned on, ensure the appropriate account is listed in the Backup account field.
    To change the backup account:
    1. Tap
      Backup account
      .
    2. Select the preferred account.
  5. Tap
    Automatic restore
     to turn on or off.
When a Google account is added to your device, previous backups are restored. This can be done by adding an existing Google account to your already active device or by signing in to the same Google account while setting up your new or reset device.
