Apple iPad - Add a Virtual Private Network

Here's how to add a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to your iPad.
  • VPN settings may not allow the device to connect to an unsecured Wi-Fi connection.
  • The device may not indicate that a Wi-Fi connection has been ended due to this restriction.
  • If available, the device resumes a 4G / 5G connection and data usage may be incurred.
  1. From a Home screen on your Apple® iPad®, navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    General
    VPN & Device Management
    VPN
    .
  2. Tap
    Add VPN Configuration
    .
  3. Tap
    Type
     then select (check) the desired option (e.g., IKEv2, IPsec, etc.).
    Contact your VPN admin for assistance with server info, credentials and additional settings.
  4. Tap
    Back
     (upper-left).
  5. Enter the appropriate info into the available fields (e.g., Description, Server, Password, etc.).
  6. Configure additional settings as needed (e.g., RSA SecurID, Encryption, Proxy, etc.).
  7. Tap
    Done
     (upper-right).
