Google Pixel Fold - Set Up Face Recognition

Here's how to set up a facial recognition scan to access your Pixel Fold.
  • Facial recognition is utilized to unlock the device.
  • For optimal performance, ensure you are indoors or away from direct sunlight.
  • If synced to a corporate Exchange account, the availability of this option is dependent upon the policies of your IT admin.
  • Ensure a secure lock type (PIN, pattern, etc.) has been set up before following the steps below. Turning off the secure lock also turns off face unlock.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to display all apps.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Security & privacy
    Device unlock
    .
  3. Tap
    Face & Fingerprint Unlock
    .
  4. Enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  5. Tap
    Face Unlock
    .
  6. Perform one of the following:
    • For first time setup:
      1. Review the info then tap
        I agree
        .
        May require scrolling.
      2. Review the info then tap
        Start
        .
      3. From the 'Help made Face Unlock better' screen, read the disclaimer then tap
        I agree
        Confirm
         to participate or tap
        Skip
         to decline.
      4. While holding the phone 8-20 inches away, position your face within the circle displayed on-screen.
      5. From the 'Looks good!' screen, tap
        Done
        .
    • To remove face data:
      1. From the 'Face Unlock' menu, tap
        Delete face model
        .
      2. To confirm, review the disclaimer then tap
        Delete
        .
