Here's how to configure Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot settings (e.g., password, network name, etc.) on your moto g stylus 5G.

Set Up Mobile Hotspot

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Network & internet
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    .
  4. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
     then configure the following as needed
    • Hotspot name (SSID)
    • Hide my device
      Enabled when a checkmark is present.
    • Security
      • WPA3-Personal
      • WPA2/WPA3-PersonalWPA2-Personal
      • None
    • Hotspot password
      Password can be changed.
  5. Tap the
    Extend compatibility switch
     to turn on on icon or off off icon.
    Turn on to use 2.4GHz and turn off to use 5GHz.

Manage Devices

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Network & internet
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    .
  4. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  5. Tap
    Manage devices
    .
    Restricts which devices are allowed to connect.
  6. To set allowed devices, tap
    Manage allowed devices
    .
    1. Tap
      Add allowed device
      .
    2. Enter the MAC address and device name (optional) then tap
      OK
      .
    3. Tap
      Allow all devices
       to enable or disable.
      Enabled when a checkmark is present.
    4. Swipe from the left edge of the screen to right to return to the previous page.
  7. Tap
    Device limit
    .
    Limits how many devices can be connected at the same time.
    1. Select an option (e.g., 2 Devices, 3 Devices, 10 Devices, etc.)
    2. Swipe from the left edge of the screen to right to return to the previous page.

Timeout

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Network & internet
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    .
  4. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  5. Tap
    Timeout settings
    .
    Sets how long before the hotspot turns off after no activity.
  6. Select an option:
    • 10 min
    • 15 min
    • 30min
    • 60 min
    • Never turn-off
