Samsung Galaxy S22 / Galaxy S22 Ultra - Set Up Face Recognition

Here's how to set up a facial recognition scan to access your Galaxy S22 / Galaxy S22+ / Galaxy S22 Ultra.
  • Facial recognition is utilized to unlock the device.
  • For optimal performance, ensure you are indoors or away from direct sunlight.
  • If synced to a corporate exchange account, the availability of this option is dependent upon the policies of your IT admin.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Security and privacy
    .
  3. Tap
    Biometrics
  4. Tap
    Face Recognition
    .
    If presented, enter the current PIN, password or pattern.
  5. Perform one of the following:
    • For first time setup:
      1. From the Face recognition screen, review the info about Face recognition then tap
        Continue
        .
      2. If presented, select a lock screen option (e.g., pattern, PIN or password) then follow the steps to complete the process.
        If necessary, refer to Enable / Disable / Modify Screen Lock for assistance.
      3. While holding the phone 8-20 inches away, position your face within the square displayed on-screen.
      4. Tap
        Done
         (at the bottom).
      5. To continue, review the info about Backing up your Pattern, tap
        Agree
         then follow the on-screen directions to sign in to your Samsung account.
      6. From the 'Face recognition' menu, tap any of the following switch(es) to turn on Switch on icon or off Switch off icon.
        • Face unlock
          : When on, device unlocks with a recognized face.
        • Stay on Lock screen until swipe
          : Once unlocked, remain on the lock screen until you swipe.
        • Faster recognition
          : When off, greater security is provided making it harder to unlock your phone using an image or video.
        • Require open eyes
          : Your face will only be recognized when your eyes are open.
        • Brighten screen
          : Temporarily increases screen brightness to improve facial recognition in the dark.
    • To remove face data:
      1. From the 'Face recognition' menu, tap
        Remove face data
        .
      2. To confirm, review the disclaimer then tap
        Remove
