Windows 11 - Pin / Unpin Apps

Here's how to pin and unpin apps from the Start menu on your Windows 11 device.
  • Windows® 11 does not use Live Tiles; however, apps can be pinned or unpinned to the Start menu.
  • If your device is not running Windows 11, refer to Windows 10 for further instruction.

Pin an App to the Start Screen and/or Taskbar

  1. From the Windows desktop, nagivate:
    Start icon Start menu icon
    All apps
    .
  2. Locate the appropriate app then press and hold for 2 seconds or right-click.
  3. Tap or click "Pin to Start" or tap "More" then tap "Pin to taskbar".
    If "Pinned to Start" is selected, the app will appear in the 'Pinned' section of the Start menu.
    Depending on the number of apps pinned, scrolling may be required to locate the app.

Unpin an App from the Start Menu

  1. From the Windows desktop, tap or click the
    Start icon
     Start menu icon.
  2. Locate the appropriate app then press and hold for 2 seconds or right-click.
  3. Tap or click
    Unpin from Start
     (located in the lower-left).
