Pixel 6 / 6 Pro - Restart in Safe Mode

Here's how to restart your Pixel 6 / 6 Pro into Safe Mode to help determine if an app is causing it to freeze, reset or run slowly.
Safe Mode puts your phone in a diagnostic state (returned to default settings) so you can determine if a third-party app is causing your device to freeze, reset or run slow.
An alternate method is available if the device is unresponsive or won't power on.
  1. With the device powered on, press and hold the
    Power and Volume Up buttons
     until the 'Power off' prompt appears on the screen then release.

  2. Touch and hold
    Restart
     until the 'Reboot to safe mode' prompt appears then release.
    Tap and hold Restart
  3. Tap
    OK
     to confirm.

    The restart process may take up to 45 seconds to complete.

    Upon restart, 'Safe mode' appears in the lower-left of the unlock / Home screen.
  4. With Safe Mode enabled, ensure Airplane Mode is turned off then test device and app functionality.
    To exit Safe mode, restart your device.
