MOTOROLA EDGE 5G UW - Manage Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings

Here's how to configure Mobile Hotspot settings (e.g., password, network name, timeout, etc.) on your motorola edge 5G UW.

Set Up Mobile Hotspot

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up from the middle to display all apps.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Network & internet
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  4. Tap the
    Use W-Fi hotspot switch
     to turn on On icon.
  5. From the Mobile Hotspot screen, configure the following as needed:
    • Hotspot name (SSID)
    • Hide my device
      Enabled when a checkmark is present.
    • Security
      • WPA3-Personal
      • WAPA2 / WPA3-Personal
      • WPA2-Personal
      • None
    • Hotspot password
      Password can be changed.
  6. Tap
    Compatibility
     then tap
    Extend compatibility
     to configure the AP Band by turning the switch on or off Off icon.
    Turn on to use 2.4GHz hotspot or turn off to use 5GHz hotspot.

Manage Devices

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up from the middle to display all apps.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Network & internet
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  4. Tap the
    Use W-Fi hotspot switch
     to turn on On icon.
  5. Tap
    Manage devices
    .
    Restricts which devices are allowed to connect.
  6. To set allowed devices, tap
    Manage allowed devices
    .
    1. Tap
      Allow all devices
       to enable or disable.
      Enabled when a checkmark is present.
    2. To add, tap
      Add allowed device
      :
      1. Enter the MAC address and device name (optional) then tap
        OK
        .
      2. Repeat steps 1 and 2 as necessary. When finished, tap the
        Back arrow icon
         Back icon (upper-left)
  7. Tap
    Device limit
    .
    Limits how many devices can be connected at the same time (select an option. e.g., 1-10).

Timeout

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up from the middle to display all apps.

    Network & internet
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  4. Tap the
    Use W-Fi hotspot switch
     to turn on On icon.
  5. Tap
    Timeout settings
    .
    Sets how long before the hotspot turns off after no activity.
  6. Select a timeout option (i.e., 5, 10, 15 minutes, etc.):
