MOTO G POWER (2021) - Manage Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings

Here's how to configure Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot settings (e.g., password, network name, etc.) on your moto g power (2021).

Set Up Mobile Hotspot

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Network & internet
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    .
  4. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  5. Tap the
    Mobile hotspot switch
     to turn on On icon.
    If prompted, review the 'Mobile Hotspot' message then tap
    OK
    .
  6. From the Mobile Hotspot screen, configure the following as needed
    • Hotspot name (SSID)
    • Hide my device
      Enabled when a checkmark is present.
    • Security
      • WPA2/WPA3-Personal
      • WPA3-Personal
      • WPA2-Personal
      • None
  7. Tap
    Advanced
     to configure:
    • Hotspot password
      Password can be changed.
    • AP Band
      Selected when blue dot appears.
      • 2.4 GHz Band
      • 5.0 GHz Band

Manage Devices

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Network & internet
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    .
  4. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  5. Tap the
    Mobile hotspot switch
     to turn on On icon.
    If prompted, review the 'Mobile Hotspot' message then tap
    OK
    .
  6. Tap
    Advanced
     then tap
    Manage devices
    .
    Restricts which devices are allowed to connect.
  7. To set allowed devices, tap
    Manage allowed devices
    then do the following:
    1. Tap
      Add allowed device
      .
    2. Enter the MAC address and device name (optional) then tap
      OK
      .
    3. Tap
      Allow all devices
       to enable or disable.
      Enabled when a checkmark is present.
    4. Swipe from the left edge of the screen to right to return to the previous page.
  8. Tap
    Device limit
    .
    Limits how many devices can be connected at the same time.
    1. Select an option (e.g., 2 Devices, 3 Devices, 10 Devices, etc.)
    2. Swipe from the left edge of the screen to right to return to the previous page.

Timeout

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
  2. Navigate:

    Network & internet

  3. Tap
    Mobile
    Hotspot & Tethering
    .
  4. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  5. Tap the
    Mobile hotspot switch
     to turn on On icon.
  6. Tap
    Advanced
    then tap
    Timeout settings
    .
    Sets how long before the hotspot turns off after no activity.
  7. Select an option:
    • 10 min
    • 15 min
    • 30min
    • 60 min
    • Never turn-off
