Samsung Galaxy A42 5G - Set Up Fingerprint Recognition

Here's how to set up fingerprint recognition on your Galaxy A42 5G.
  • A fingerprint is utilized to unlock the device.
  • For the fingerprint scanner to operate, hands must be clean and free of moisture, dirt, oil, lotion, dyes, etc.
  • Up to 3 fingerprints can be registered on the device.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access the apps screen.
    These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Security and privacy
    .
  3. Tap
    Biometrics
    .
  4. Tap
    Fingerprints
    .
  5. Enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
    If no screen lock is active, tap
    Continue
     then set up a lock option (e.g., pattern, PIN, etc.).
  6. Follow the on-screen tutorial to scan your fingerprint.
    Repeat as needed until the process is complete.
  7. Tap
    Done
     (lower-right).
  8. Tap the
    Fingerprint unlock switch
     to turn on Switch on icon or off Switch off icon.
