Here's how to add / remove Home screen items (widgets, apps or folders) and set the wallpaper on your Galaxy A42 5G.
To customize the Home screen on your Galaxy A42 5G, do any of the following.

Add Apps

A shortcut to an individual contact or bookmark can only be added to a Home screen via a widget.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Touch and hold an app.
  3. Drag and drop the shortcut to the preferred Home screen.
    For the app to be successfully added, there must be sufficient space within the selected Home screen. If needed, additional Home screen panels may be added.

Add Widgets

Widgets are mini-apps (e.g., weather, clock, calendar, etc.) that can be added to a Home screen. They aren't the same as shortcuts as they generally display info and take up more space than a single icon.
  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold an empty space.
  2. Tap
    Widgets
     (at the bottom).
  3. Tap the preferred app.
  4. Touch and hold the desired widget to drag it to the preferred Home screen then release.
    For the widget to be successfully added, there must be sufficient space on the screen. If needed, additional Home screen panels may be added.
  5. If applicable, tap additional options to activate widget.
    Options vary depending upon the type of widget.

Add / Remove Folders

  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold a shortcut (e.g., Email).
  2. Drag the shortcut onto another shortcut (e.g., Calendar) then release.
    A folder containing the shortcuts is created. To rename a folder:
    To remove a folder, drag the app(s) out of an existing folder until the folder disappears.
    1. Tap
      Folder name
       (at the top).
    2. Enter a name for the folder then tap
      Done
       (lower-right).
    To remove a folder, drag the app(s) out of an existing folder until the folder disappears.

Remove Apps / Widgets

  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold the item (e.g., widget, shortcut, etc.) until the menu appears then release.
  2. Tap
    Remove
    .

Set Wallpaper

  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold a blank area.
  2. Tap
    Wallpapers and style
     (lower-left).
  3. Perform one of the following:
    • To use an existing wallpaper image:
      1. Tap
        My wallpapers
        .
      2. Select a wallpaper image from the list.
      3. Select an option (e.g., Home screen, Lock screen, Home and lock screens).
      4. Tap
        Set on Home screen
         (at the bottom).
        Option varies based on previous selection (e.g., Home screen, lock screen, etc.)
    • To use an image from your gallery:
      1. Tap
        Gallery
        .
      2. Locate then select the preferred picture.
      3. Select an option (e.g., Home screen, Lock screen, Home and lock screens).
      4. Tap
        Set on Home screen
         (at the bottom).
        Option varies based on previous selection (e.g., Home screen, lock screen, etc.)
