Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G / Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G - Home Screen Settings

Here's how to change your default Home screen settings on your Galaxy S20+ 5G / Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G.

Home screen layout

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout only.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Home screen
    .
    If unavailable, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap
    Home screen settings
    .
  3. Tap
    Home screen layout
    .
  4. Select one of the following:
    • Home and Apps screens
      All apps display on an Apps screen, which is separate from the Home screen.
      This is the default setting.
    • Home screen only
      All apps display on the Home screen.
  5. Tap
    Apply
    .

Home screen grid

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout only.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Home screen
    .
    If unavailable, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap
    Home screen settings
    .
  3. Tap
    Home screen grid
    .
  4. Select the desired option (e.g., 4x5, 4x6, 5x5, 5x6) located at the bottom.
    When selected, a preview of the change displays above.
  5. Tap
    Done
     (lower-right).

Apps screen grid

Adjusting the screen grid to a higher setting (e.g. 4x5 to 5x6) reduces the size of icons to conserve space and display more apps on the screen.
This option is only available in the Home and Apps screens layout.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout only.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Home screen
    .
    If unavailable, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap
    Home screen settings
    .
  3. Tap
    Apps screen grid
    .
  4. Select the desired option (e.g., 4x5, 4x6, 5x5, 5x6) located at the bottom.
    When selected, a preview of the change displays above.
  5. Tap
    Done
     (lower-right).
  6. To rearrange icons and remove empty space(s):
    1. From the apps screen, tap the
      Menu icon
       Menu icon (upper-right)
    2. Tap
      Clean up pages
      .
    3. Tap
      Apply
       (at the top).

Apps button

This option is only available in the Home and Apps screens layout.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout only.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Home screen
    .
    If unavailable, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap
    Home screen settings
    .
  3. Tap the
    Show Apps screen button on Home screen switch
     to turn on Switch on icon or off Switch off icon.

Hide apps

Selected apps don't appear on the Home and Apps screens.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout only.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Home screen
    .
    If unavailable, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen then tap
    Home screen settings
    .
  3. Tap
    Hide apps on Home and Apps screens
    .
  4. Select the desired app(s).
    Selected when a checkmark is present.
  5. Tap
    Done
     (at the bottom).
