Here's how to configure Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings (e.g., password, network name, etc.) on your razr.

Set Up Mobile Hotspot

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    >
    Network & internet
     >
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  4. Tap the
    Mobile hotspot switch
     to turn on Switch on.
  5. From the Mobile Hotspot screen, configure the following as needed:
    • Hotspot name (SSID)
    • Hide my device
      Enabled when a checkmark is present.
    • Security
      • WPA3-Personal
      • WPA2 / WPA3-Personal
      • WPA2-Personal
      • None
    • Hotspot password
      Password can be changed.
  6. Tap
    Advanced
     to configure
    AP Band
    :
    • 5.0 GHz Band preferred
    • 2.4 GHz Band

Manage Devices

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    >
    Network & internet
     >
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  4. Tap the
    Mobile hotspot switch
     to turn on Switch on.
  5. Tap
    Advanced
     then tap
    Manage devices
    .
    Restricts which devices are allowed to connect.
  6. To set allowed devices, tap
    Manage allowed devices
    .
    1. Tap
      Allow all devices
       to enable or disable.
      Enabled when a checkmark is present.
    2. To whitelist certain devices, tap
      Add allowed device
      :
      1. Enter the MAC address and device name (optional) then tap
        OK
        .
      2. Repeat steps 1 and 2 as necessary. When finished, tap the
        Back icon
         Back arrow icon (upper-left).
  7. Tap
    Device limit
     then select the preferred option (1-10).
    Limits how many devices can be connected at the same time.

    Timeout settings
    .
    Sets how long before the hotspot turns off after no activity.
  6. Select an option:
    • 5 minutes
    • 10 minutes
    • 15 minutes
    • 30 minutes
    • 60 minutes
    • Never turn-off
