Google Pixel 4 - View / Restrict Data Usage by App

Here's how to view / restrict the amount of data an app on your Pixel 4 / 4 XL uses.
Some apps depend upon background data (transferring data when not directly in use). Restricting background data may cause those apps to stop functioning unless a Wi-Fi connection is available.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up from the middle to display all apps.
  2. Tap
    Settings Settings icon
    Network & internet
    SIMs
    .
    If using both physical SIM and eSIM, choose a mobile network (Verizon, eSIM).
    To see Wi-Fi data usage follow these steps:
    1. Navigate
      Settings
      Network & internet
      Internet
      .
    2. Tap
      Non-carrier data usage
      then skip to step 4.
  3. Tap
    App data usage
    .
  4. Tap an app (located below the usage graph) then view the usage.
    To restrict the app from using data in the background, tap the
    Background data switch
     to turn off off switch.
  5. If presented, review the message then tap
    OK
    .
