Sonim XP8 - Customize Your Home Screen

Here's how to add / remove Home screen items (widgets, apps or folders) and set the wallpaper on your Sonim XP8.

Add Apps

A shortcut to an individual contact or bookmark can be added to the Home screen via a widget.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
  2. Touch and hold an app.
  3. Drag the shortcut to the desired Home screen then release.

Add Widgets

Widgets are mini-apps (e.g., weather, clock, calendar, etc.) that can be added to a Home screen. They aren't the same as shortcuts as they generally display info and take up more space than a single icon.
  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold an empty space.
  2. Tap
    Widgets
    .
  3. Touch and hold a widget.
  4. Drag the widget to the preferred Home screen then release.
    For the widget to be successfully added, there must be sufficient space on the screen.
  5. If applicable, tap additional options to activate widget.
    Options vary depending upon the type of widget.

Add / Remove Folders

  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold a shortcut (e.g., Email Messages, etc.).
  2. Drag the shortcut on to another shortcut (e.g., Gmail, Photos, etc.) then release.
    When the folder containing the shortcuts is created it's titled 'Unnamed Folder'.
    • To rename a folder:
      1. From a Home screen, tap a folder.
      2. Tap the
        Title bar
        .
      3. Enter a name then tap the
        Checkmark icon
         .
    • To remove a folder, drag the app(s) out of an existing folder until the folder disappears.

Remove Apps / Widgets

  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold the item (e.g., widgets, shortcuts, folders, etc.).
  2. Drag the item onto 'Remove' (at the top) then release.

Set Wallpaper

  1. Touch and hold a blank space on a Home screen.
  2. Tap
    Wallpapers
     (lower-left).
  3. Tap a desired wallpaper then tap
    Set wallpaper
    (top).
    Scroll left or right to see more options.
  4. Select an option:
    • Home screen
    • Home screen and Lock screen
