Sonim XP8 - Add a Virtual Private Network

Here's how to add a virtual private network (VPN) to your Sonim XP8.
If you need to add a virtual private network (VPN) to encrypt your internet traffic and protect your online identity via a secured remote server when remotely accessing company systems (e.g., company email, intranet sites, etc.) from your Sonim XP8® , follow these step-by-step instructions.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access the apps screen.
  2. Navigate: 
    Settings
     Settings Icon >
    Network & Internet
     >
    Advanced
    .
  3. Tap
    VPN
     then tap the
    Add icon
    (upper-right).
  4. If presented with a lock screen notification, tap
    OK
    .
    Refer to Set Up Screen Lock (Pattern, PIN or Password only) for assistance.
  5. From the 'Name' field, enter the appropriate name.
    Contact the VPN administrator for assistance with server info and credentials.
  6. From the 'Type' field, tap the 
    Dropdown menu
     Drop down menu icon then select the VPN type:
    • PPTP
    • L2TP/IPSec PSK
    • L2TP/IPSec RSA
    • IPSec Xauth PSK
    • IPSec Xauth RSA
    • IPSec Hybrid RSA
  7. Enter the required info into the applicable fields then tap
    SAVE
     (lower-right).
    The available options vary depending upon the selected VPN type.
    If applicable, tap
    Show advanced options
    to configure the following:
    • DNS search domains
    • DNS servers
    • Forwarding routes
    • OCSP Web address
