moto g7 power - Manage Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings

Here's how to configure Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot settings (e.g., password, network name, etc.) on your moto g7 power.

Setup Mobile Hotspot

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Network & Internet Network and Internet icon
    Advanced
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    .
  4. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  5. Tap the
    Mobile hotspot switch
     to turn on On icon.
    If prompted, review the message then tap
    OK
    .
  6. Configure any of the following:
    If necessary, tap
    Advanced
     to display additional options.
    • Hotspot name (SSID)
    • Hide my device
      Turned on when a checkmark is present.
    • Security
      • None
      • WPA2 PSK
    • Hotspot password
      Password can be changed.
    • Select AP Band
      • 2.4 GHz Band
      • 5.0 GHz Band
    • Client (DHCP) start address

Manage Devices

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Network & Internet Network and Internet icon
    Advanced
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    .
  4. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  5. Tap the
    Mobile hotspot switch
     to turn on On icon.
  6. Tap
    Advanced
     then tap
    Manage devices
    .
    Restricts which devices are allowed to connect.
  7. To set allowed devices, tap
    Manage allowed devices
     then do one of the following:
    • Tap
      Allow all devices
       to enable or disable.
      Turned on when a checkmark is present.
    • To add a device:
      1. Tap
        Add allowed device
        .
      2. Enter the MAC address and device name (optional) then tap
        OK
        .
      3. Tap the
        Back icon
         Back icon (lower-left).
  8. Tap
    Device limit
     then select an option (e.g., 2 Devices, 3 Devices, 10 Devices, etc.).
    If presented with 'Are you sure?' prompt, review then tap
    CONTINUE
     .

Timeout

    Mobile Hotspot

  5. Tap the

    Advanced
     then tap
    Timeout settings
    .
    Determines the length of time before the hotspot turns off after no activity.
  7. Select an option:
    • 10 min
    • 15 min
    • 30min
    • 60 min
    • Never turn off
