Apple iPad - Set Up Face ID

Here's how to set up a facial recognition scan to access your iPad.
  • Face ID uses exclusive technology to create a map of your face that can then be used to unlock your Apple® iPad® or verify your identity for services (e.g., Apple Pay) or apps (e.g., My Verizon).
  • For Touch ID settings for previous iPad models, view Customize Touch ID Settings.
  1. From a Home screen, navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Face ID & Passcode
    .
  2. Tap
    Set Up Face ID
     then tap
    Get Started
    .
    The front and infrared cameras activate to begin face mapping.
  3. Position your face within the frame then move your head slowly to complete the circle.
  4. Tap
    Continue
     then repeat step 3.
  5. To continue, tap
    Done
    .
    If necessary, follow the steps to set up a backup passcode.
