Samsung Galaxy Tab A (10.5) - Activate / Set Up Device

Here's how to quickly set up your Galaxy Tab A 10.5.
For info on prepaid service activation, refer to Set up Verizon Prepaid Service.
  1. If powered off, press and hold the
    Power button
     until the Samsung Galaxy Tab A screen appears then release.

  2. Select the appropriate language then tap the
    Start icon

  3. To continue, review the 'Terms and Conditions' and 'Privacy Policy' then tap

    In order to continue, you must accept (check) all items.

  4. To continue, tap

    If prompted, enter the account PIN then follow the on-screen prompts (see Account PIN FAQs for additional info).
    If activating a new tablet on an existing phone number, ensure the old device is powered off.

  5. Select a network, enter the password then tap

     to add Wi-Fi networks after setup is complete.

  6. To transfer data (e.g., apps, photos, contacts, etc.) from a previous device, tap
    Next
     then follow the on-screen instructions.
    If troubleshooting, don't restore the device until all testing has been completed.
    If you'd prefer to set your device up as new, tap

  7. Sign in to your existing Google™ account or create a new one.

     to add a Google account after setup is complete.

  8. Review the 'Google Assistant' screens then tap

  9. From the 'Google Services' screen, select any of the following to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap
    Accept
    :
    • Back up to Google Drive
    • Use location
    • Allow scanning
    • Send usage and diagnostic data

  10. Tap the desired protection option then follow the on screen instructions.

     to set up a screen lock or face recognition after setup is complete.

  11. From the 'Verizon Services' screen, tap
    Accept
    .

  12. Sign in to your existing account or create a new Samsung account.

    Skip
     to add a Samsung account after setup is complete.

  13. To complete the Setup Wizard, tap
    Done
