Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8.0) - Manage Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings

Here's how to configure Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings (password, network name, etc.) on your Galaxy Tab A (8.0).

Set Up Mobile Hotspot

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Connections
    Mobile Hotspot and Tethering
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  4. Tap the
    Menu icon
     Menu icon (upper-right).
  5. Tap
    Configure Mobile Hotspot
    .
  6. From the Configure Mobile Hotspot screen, configure the following as preferred:
    • Network name (SSID)
      The network name can be hidden by tapping
      Hide my device
       to turn on or off.
    • Security
      • Open
      • WPA2 PSK
    • Password
      Password can be changed.
    • Show advanced options
      Options available when a checkmark is present.
      • Tap the
        Dropdown menu icon
         Dropdown menu icon to select the channel (Auto, 1, 2, 11, etc.).
  7. Tap
    Save
    .

Timeout

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Connections
    Mobile Hotspot and Tethering
    .
  3. Tap
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  4. Tap the
    Menu icon
     Menu icon (upper-right).
  5. Tap
    Timeout settings
    .
  6. Select an option:
    • Never timeout
    • 5 minutes
    • 10 minutes
    • 20 minutes
    • 30 minutes
    • 60 minutes
