Here's how to erase all data on the SD / memory card of your Galaxy S8 / S8+.
Formatting permanently erases all data on the SD / memory card.
To perform the steps below, ensure the SD / memory card is inserted.
  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
    These instructions apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Device care
    Storage
    .
  3. Tap the
    Menu icon
     Menu icon (upper-right) then tap
    Storage settings
    .
  4. From the Portable storage section, select the name of the SD / Memory Card.
    The name varies by card type used.
  5. Tap
    Format
    .
    If presented, enter the appropriate password, PIN or pattern then tap
    Continue
    .
  6. Review the disclaimer then tap
    Format
    .
    Allow several seconds for the process to complete.
