Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ - Restart in Safe Mode
Here's how to restart your Galaxy S8 / S8+ into Safe Mode to help determine if an app is causing it to freeze, reset or run slowly.
Safe Mode puts your phone in a diagnostic state (returned to default settings) so you can determine if a third-party app is causing your device to freeze, reset or run slowly.
Restarting the device in Safe Mode may reset the Home screen to default settings (i.e. wallpaper, theme, widgets, etc.)
An alternate method is available if the device is unresponsive or won't power on.
- With the device powered on, press and hold thePower button(located on the right edge) until the 'Power off' prompt appears on the screen then release.
- Touch and holdPower offuntil the 'Reboot to Safe Mode' prompt appears then release.
- TapSafe Mode. The restart process may take up to 45 seconds to complete.Upon restart, 'Safe mode' appears in the lower-left of the unlock / Home screen.
- With Safe Mode enabled, test device and app functionality.
