Apple iPhone - Manage Siri Settings

Here's how to set up Siri for your iPhone and choose when it's available via voice commands.
  • Siri uses voice recognition to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, etc.
  • To use Siri, on the Apple® iPhone® X or later, press the side button for a few moments. If your device has a Home button, press it if turned on, or just say "Hey Siri".
  • To check what iOS verison you have navigate:
    Settings
    General
    About
     then look under Software Version.

iOS 16 or later

  1. From a Home screen, navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Siri & Search
    .
  2. Tap
    Listen for
     then select one of the following:
    If prompted, tap
    Enable Siri
     then following on screen prompts to set up 'Hey Siri'.
    • "Siri" or "Hey Siri"
    • "Hey Siri"
    • Off
  3. Tap the
    Press Side Button for Siri switch
     to turn on Switch On or off Switch Off.
    For iPhones with a Home button, tap the
    Press Home for Siri switch
     to turn on or off.
  4. Tap the
    Allow Siri When Locked switch
     to turn on or off.
  5. To manage additional settings, tap the preferred option (i.e., Language, Siri Voice, etc.).
  6. Tap any of the following to turn or off:
    • From the 'BEFORE SEARCHING' section:
      • Show Suggestions
      • Show Recents
    • From the 'CONTENT FROM APPLE' section:
      • Show in Look Up
      • Show in Spotlight
    • From the 'SUGGESTIONS FROM APPLE' section:
      • Allow Notifications
      • Show in App Library
      • Show When Sharing
      • Show When Listening
  7. Tap the preferred apps to use Siri with then tap any of the following to turn or off:
    • Learn from this App
    • Show in Search
    • Suggest App Clips

iOS 15.7 or earlier

  1. From a Home screen, navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Siri & Search
    .
  2. Tap the
    Listen for 'Hey Siri' switch
     to turn on Switch On or off Switch Off.
    If prompted, tap
    Enable Siri
     then following on screen prompts to set up 'Hey Siri'.
  3. Tap the
    Press Side Button for Siri switch
     to turn on or off.
    For iPhones with a Home button, tap the
    Press Home for Siri switch
     to turn on or off.
  4. Tap the
    Allow Siri When Locked switch
     to turn on or off.
  5. To manage additional settings, tap any of the following:
    • Language
    • Siri Voice
    • Siri Responses
    • Announce Calls
    • My Information
    • Siri & Dictation History
  6. From Siri Suggestions, tap any of the following to turn or off:
    • Suggestions in Search
    • Suggestions in Look Up
    • Suggestions in Lock Screen
    • Suggestions in App Library
    • Suggestions when Sharing
  7. Tap the preferred apps to use Siri with then tap any of the following to turn or off:
    • Learn from this App
    • Show in Search
    • Suggest App Clips
