Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 edge - Set Up Fingerprint Recognition

Here's how to add fingerprint recognition to unlock your Galaxy S7 / S7 edge.
  • A fingerprint is utilized to unlock the device.
  • For the fingerprint scanner to operate, hands must be clean and free of moisture, dirt, oil, lotion, dyes, etc.
  • Up to four fingerprints can be registered on the device.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Lock screen and security
    .
  3. From the Biometrics section, tap
    Fingerprint Scanner
    .
    If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  4. If presented, tap
    CONTINUE
     and select a lock screen option (e.g., Pattern, PIN, Password) then follow the steps to complete the process.
    If necessary, refer to Set Up Screen Lock for assistance.
  5. Place your finger on the fingerprint sensor (Home key) until it vibrates then lift.
    View the on-screen tutorial for assistance.
    Repeat this step as necessary until the process is complete.
    For greater accuracy, finger placement should vary slightly each time.
  6. Tap
    DONE
     (lower-right).
  7. If presented, tap the
    Notifications switch
     (upper-right) to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap
    DONE
    .
    When on, configure any of the following:
    • Hide content
      Tap to turn on or off.
    • Notification icons only
      Tap to turn on or off.
    • Transparency
      Slide the
      blue bar
       left or right to adjust the level while viewing the preview at the top.
    • Auto-reverse text color
      Tap to turn on or off.
      Reverses the color of notification text based upon background color.
  8. If presented, tap
    TURN ON
     (lower-right).
