How to Check Your Internet Connection Speed
Here's how to test your connection speeds for your smartphone / tablet / jetpack / router / laptop etc. if it's slower than expected.
- At times, Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband may fall back to 4G LTE speeds.
- Based on location, devices rely on coverage provided by other carriers. In these areas data speeds may be limited.
- Ensure there are no apps running in the background that may be utilizing the connection. Some apps (e.g., Windows and Anti-virus Updates, File Sharing apps, etc.) can consume a significant amount of bandwidth and decrease the connection throughput.
While we can't recommend a specific site, there are many online resources that can determine the current speed of the connection. Some examples of desktop tests are:
- Java based: www.fusionconnect.com/speed-test-plusIf prompted on the desktop computer, refer to Install Java for additional info. Alternatively, refer to download instructions for Android or iOS to locate and install a performance testing mobile app.
- Browser based: verizon.com/speedtest/Intended to measure results on your home network. Some mobile browsers may not accurately display speeds.

- If traveling internationally, speeds vary and may be considerably slower than while in the US.
