Apple iPad - Set Up Touch ID

Here's how to set up Touch ID on your Apple iPad.
For the fingerprint scanner to operate, hands must be clean and free of moisture, dirt, oil, lotion, dyes, etc.
  • The steps below apply to the following Apple® iPad® models:
    • iPad Pro
    • iPad (5th generation and later)
    • iPad Air 2
    • iPad mini 3 or later
  • To identify your iPad model and check for Touch ID capabilities, view this info.

  1. From the Home screen, navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    Touch ID & Passcode
    .
  2. Enter the passcode.
  3. Tap
    Add a Fingerprint
    .
    A maximum of 5 fingerprints can be added.
  4. Place finger over the Home button then follow on-screen prompts to capture fingerprint.
    Don't click the Home button during scan. If you receive the "Oops..." prompt, tap
    Continue
    .
  5. When prompted with setup is complete, tap
    Continue
    .
